See the danger early enough to do something useful.
Risk management is not about worrying about everything. It is about noticing what could hurt the business, deciding what matters most, and preparing before the pressure arrives.
Stock is close to the leak, one staff member is trying to move it, and the owner is calling for a plumber while customers wait. The problem is not that rain was unpredictable. The problem is that nobody had decided what would be moved first, who would call, or where the stock would go.
This volume helps you turn “What if?” into a short, practical plan that people can use when the answer matters.
THE RISK PATH
Do not treat every danger as equally urgent.
List what could go wrong
Look at the premises, people, money, customers, suppliers, and the wider world around the business.
Judge the likely harm
Ask two simple questions: How likely is this, and how badly would it hurt if it happened?
Reduce what you can
Add simple protections before the problem happens, such as checks, backups, insurance, training, or safer storage.
Prepare the response
Decide who acts first, what they do, and what must be protected when an incident begins.
Write down three things that could stop work this month.
For each one, write what would be damaged, who would act first, and one small protection you can put in place this week. You do not need a perfect plan to start becoming safer.
